GOLDEN HOUR CHALLENGE FOR East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA)

(Posted15.06.20)

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT…..The weekend of 6th and 7th June saw some of the staff at the practice jog, cycle and walk for an hour to support East Anglian Air Ambulance. The hour was chosen due to the aptly named “Golden Hour” which is the crucial period of time when prompt effective emergency care can mean a difference between surviving or not, hence why the air ambulance is so important to everyone in this area.

The hour saw us collectively covering 235km or 147 miles which is the equivalent of travelling from Long Stratton to Oxford.

A huge “THANK YOU” to everyone that has supported us by donating to our JustGiving page, our total raised has reached an incredible £1,310.
If you still wish to donate please click

FRAUD ALERT - CERVICAL SCREENING

(Posted 18.05.20)

NHS England have received reports of a possible scam. Some women are being contacted by text message, claiming to be from the call and recall service to advise they are overdue for screening. The message asks them to call a mobile number and provide personal details.

These messages are NOT from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme and the Action Fraud line have been contacted.

We are currently using different methods to contact our patients. Our doctors or nurses may call you from a withheld mobile number as some are working remotely. When they ring they will ask you to confirm your details to be able to offer you an appointment, but they will not be contacting you to ask your details by text. If you do receive such a text message please contact the surgery first to confirm that it was from the practice before responding.

LSMP charity of the Year 2019

(Posted 18.11.19)

Following the official opening of The Nook Children's Hospice by the Duchess of Cambridge on Friday 15th November, and five years after officially launching a £10 million fundraising appeal, The Nook opened its doors today to fund raisers and supporters for a tour of the building.

The Hospice sits in a five-acre plot and is surrounded by amazing woodland. The building is set on a single floor so that all of the rooms are accessible, this includes a sensory room, music and soft play, hydrotherapy and community areas to mention just a few. The complex will surely make such a difference to the lives of many families.

It was lovely to visit the Hospice and we are so proud to have fund-raised this year for The Nook, we hope our small contribution of £2,160 has helped towards this wonderful place.

MacMillan Coffee Morning

(Posted 30.09.19)

On Friday 27th September we held a "MacMillan Coffee Morning" staff bake-off which raised £220 for this worthwhile charity. The staff created some wonderful bakes and some of our Patient Participation Group members had the difficult job of judging them all, finally awarding first prize to Kay one of our Receptionists. Thank you to everyone that took part or donated.

Long Stratton Women's Institute Donation

(Posted 21.06.19)

We are so grateful to Long Stratton Women's Institute for raising funds to purchase three blood pressure monitors and new cuffs for our patients to borrow for home checking.

The results from home monitoring can give a much better reflection of a patient's blood pressure, as being tested during an appointment can make your feel anxious and can affect the result. The more monitors we have available, the more patients we can identify and treat promptly.

Thank you!
