Tests, Results & Investigations

Blood Tests

Appointments for blood tests are provided by our Healthcare Assistants and can be booked via our Reception Team.

If our clinics are busy or we cannot offer you a convenient appointment blood testing for adults can be done at the Norwich Practices’ Walk-In & Health Centre or at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.

Blood tests for babies and children under 16 years old are done at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital.

If your blood test is being done elsewhere please remember to ask us for your Blood Test Request Form as your blood cannot be taken without it

Results will usually be available within 3-5 days, depending upon the type of test. However, some tests will take longer. When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice. The result is always read by the doctor and instructions given to the receptionist as to what action is required. The receptionist will only be able to tell you what the doctor has written about your result and is not qualified to discuss the result with you. It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

Please note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection, and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data (please see our Patient Confidentiality section under the Further Information tab on the right hand side of the screen), or they are not capable of understanding the results.
